Hedge? What hedge? Planting is done for this year in the new 'hedge bed'. You can see the hedge in all it's overgrown prison yard glory here. From left to right, New Zealand Myrtle, Rhododendron, Star Jasmine, Rose of Sharon, Euphorbia Miner's Merlot, Hydrangea, Euphorbia Ascot Rainbow and Azalea.
Rescued a rhody that had had been dumped in the park a few years ago. Planted it in the Posh Pee Pee beside the azalea and heucheras. The wee rescue hydrangea says don't you dare steal my thunder. I may have planted lots of bulbs in the park, to give us all some spring cheer.
I see a red wall and I want to paint it black.
It was finally time to get rid of the hedge which was already well established when I moved here 15 years ago. It had been maintained at the height of the wall so it remains a mystery why anyone would plant a hedge up against a wall. I can only assume it was to hide what is very ugly wall. Don't get me wrong, I love this wall, having a walled garden in Scotland creates a small sheltered oasis. More on 'Hedge Fest' here.
Don't cry, you are stunning. I love you, you bring me such joy.
This is my weeping cherry tree. My 40th birthday present from my mum. Planted as a sapling 15 years ago it has never looked so good in autumn. Sapling is here.
I am going mad for the elements. Now I have 'water' pretty much nailed lets bring in the fire. This is Scotland after all, you need somewhere to warm your cockles moving into autumn.
So in love with my water pit, aka the posh drinky, I decided to take it to the next level and install a pond. Introducing in no particular order...
Opal, Jasper and Agate aka 'the shubbies'. Shubunkins.
Ziggy and the girls aka 'the shiners'. Rainbow Shiners.
Fred and Ginger. Goldfish.
Fed up with the sticky willys and stinging nettles at my back gate, I went a bit mental and dug a new flower bed. Who knew it would become a very posh peeing post for Storm. This is Pixie in the photo, super cute and also known as 'peepee'.
I decided to create my very own water feature with some of the larger rocks I had collected over numerous rockhounding trips. So I ordered a cheap fire pit, chucked in my rocks and added a small solar powered water fountain to supply the trickling water vibe I was going for. Who knew it would just become a very posh water bowl for the dogs!
Messing about at the river. A spring walk along the river Avon. So good to be out and about again.
I polish the rocks I collect in my rock tumblers. Most of the rocks end up under my cherry tree, in the garden or dotted about the house. Sometimes the rock fairy drops some in the park.
